So I know it doesn't look super horrible or even that bad, but this was over $7000 in damage!! It did look way worse in person!
Now keep in mind this is the van I still park in the farthest spot away from the door at Wal-mart or anywhere I go so that no one will accidentally bump or scratch it! I guess the joke is on me because apparently this whole time I could have been parking way closer-I needed to be more worried about stop lights!
On Friday, August 14 (Brandon's birthday), we were driving home from baseball practice in Pekin. We (meaning me and all 4 kids) were at a stoplight completely stopped when all of the sudden there was a huge crash noise and the car jumped forward. A guy had just plowed into me without breaking!!!! Which then caused me to hit (actually it was more like tap) the guy in front of me. Luckily we are all ok. No one was hurt. We were a bit shaken up though and Jared came home from work to be with us.
Thank goodness for great car seats. Allison was in a Britax Marathon which in my opinion is the BEST out there and worth every penny!!! and Brandon in a booster. Both needed to be replaced per police because of the impact speed. I also credit the great safely features of my van for keeping us safe!!! I knew I loved my van!! The guy that ran into me was taken away in an ambulance.
A photo taken at the accident scene actually made the Pekin paper. It must have been a REALLY SLOW news day.
Once my van got into the shop it took about 10 days. Those were a LONG 10 days. They ended up replacing the whole back (door and bumper), safety features that u can only see under the car and the whole back 1/4 of my car was cut out and replaced. The shop fixed it up perfectly and looks and runs as good as new!!!
