This is what Allison says instead of "surprise!" Ok, so I have a hard enough time keeping things (like gifts) a secret from Jared. Normally I have to buy him gifts the night before because I just get excited and figure why wait and just give it to him then. Well this year was going to be different!
Allison and I went shopping and got Jared a Christmas gift this week. I told her it was a secret and a surprise and we couldn't tell Daddy. She said "OK." When we got home, I wrapped the gift up right away and stuck it under the tree. Later that night we were in the car and out of the blue Allison says "Daddy, did you like your ga-prise?" Jared says "What surprise?" "Your ga-prise we bought you at the mall!" Allison then goes on to tell him exactly what we bought him!!!! She was so excited and cute about it, it was hard to get upset with her.
Oh well, at least she didn't tell the boys what we bought them. I guess the trick is to just tell her the gifts are for some other kids...that was what we told her when she would ask about stuff in the cart that was for the boys. Moral of the story is DON'T tell your 3 year old something you want kept a secret!! (having 4 kids you would have thought I would have learned that by now!)
