Today was a no school day so all the kids and I went with Brandon's Cub Scout pack to the local Air Base. It was really cool! I never knew Brandon was so inquisitive. He asked so many questions many of which were actually about what the soldiers were talking about.
The boys got to see the fire station and see the fire fighters equipment and several trucks. We even got to see one of the big fire trucks spray water. Then we went inside and they let the kids look through the night vision goggles. Even Jake, Eric and I thought that was super cool. All the parents about died at the end though when one of the kids asked how much the goggles cost and they said around $11,000 a pair!!!!!! They sent around 4 pairs-to little kids. I am not sure us parents would have been so relaxed knowing that much money was being passed around in the dark to small BOYS!!! The kids were all very careful and nothing was dropped or broken. Thank goodness! The tour finally ended with a tour through a C-130 aircraft. The kids even got a turn to sit in the cockpit. I saw most of the plane from the outside...for some reason Allison was terrified of it!
We would like to thank the soldiers for their willingness to serve our country! We owe our many freedoms to your bravery! Thank you for all you do!
