We had been advised not to drive into downtown Amsterdam so we parked at a park and ride to take the tram into town. After a bit of confusion we finally managed to find the correct tram line and figured out how and where to purchase tram tickets. What a busy city! It probably didn't help that a couple of days ago on May 1, the Dutch Queen Beatrix abdicated to her eldest son Willem-Alexander. There were probably people from that still visiting the city.
We took an hour long boat tour of the city. It was a good way to see the city and neat riding down the canals. I remember taking a boat tour with my family as a kid and the tour of the red light district we got back then. This boat managed to avoid that part of town thank goodness!
