Buchenwald Concentration Camp

Buchenwald is one of the first and largest concentration camps in Germany.  This camp held prisoners from all over Europe and the Soviet Union and they worked as forced labor in the armaments factories. The weather was very fitting when we were visiting as the clouds were low and it was foggy and somber.  It is hard to imagine the horrors that took place here.  In one of the museums they had laid out shoes from the prisoners.  It was very sad seeing all the little kids shoes there.
