What a trip down memory lane for me. We visited Heidelberg Castle. Apparently in the 17th century this was celebrated as the "eighth wonder of the world". It was beautiful looking out over the city and being nestled on the hill.
We went and strolled around the Altstadt (Old Town), visited the Cathedral and the Alte Brücke (Old Bridge). We stopped and ate some pretzels and pastries in the square. Heidelberg is a beautiful city. It has a very cozy and charming feel to it. As we were in the square there were two people on one of the balconies of a building playing some music. It was quite picturesque!
I stopped by my the old high school where I went for my freshman year. This is the last year it will be open. They are closing the base here in Heidelberg. Unfortunately I could not get too close to the high school because it was within the installation. Everything already looked run down and not taken care of. Kind of sad.
